A BERGAMA RUG
WEST ANATOLIA, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY

The shaded brick-red field with stellar flowerheads around a pistachio-green and raspberry-red hooked pole-medallion containing hooked small lozenge panels, flanked by part triangular and indented mottled blue narrow hooked panels containing similar motifs, in a shaded apricot border of meandering angular leafy vine linking hooked floral motifs and serrated leaves with outer charcoal-grey angular floral meander and minor barber-pole stripes, corroded black, localised areas of repiling, outermost extremities restored.
