WEST ANATOLIA, CIRCA 1700

The shaded plain brick-red field with two columns containing lozenges and with palmette terminals supporting a stepped triangular indigo mihrab arch with tracery flowering vine, a steel- blue palmette cross-panel above and eau-de-nil tulip and carnation cross-panel below, in a shaded olive- green border of rosettes, palmettes, paired saz leaves, carnations and hyacinths between light blue and indigo floral and minor brick-red linked S-motif and leaf stripes, a striped kilim strip at each end, very slight wear, minimal repair, corroded brown 5ft.7in.x4ft.1in. (170cm. x 124cm.)
