![]() | Maritime Document, Ship Roma, 184316/7. This is the account of the Ship Roma's Voyage to India. The cargo included "9 cases Opium...1969 1/2 lbs. Opium." The ship was registered in Salem, Mass., but we can surmise that she picked up the opium in one of the British colonies and that it was to be transshipped from India to China where it would play its part in England's deadly Opium Wars with China, 8"x9 3/4", file folds, otherwise excellent condition. The graphic is a detail showing about 2/3s of the front of the document. The discoloration is incidental to the scan and does not appear on the document which is clean and crisp. |

Maritime and Antique Gun document, Colt, 185316/10. Invoice of the Ship Sooloo, which carried a cargo of cased Colt Navy and other revolvers, from Salem, Mass. to Hobarts Town (Van Daiman's Land - Austrailia). The shipment included mahogany cases, shot flasks, caps, etc.. This is a four page document, page 1. Invoice, page 2. blank, page 3. letter, dated March, 2, 1853, about voyage and cargo with instructions to Captain of the ship. page 4. blank. As with our other maritime document, there is dis-coloration due to the scan which does not appear on the document itself. | ![]() |
