6/1. New Year's dinner menu from the Lakewood Hotel, Lakewood, NJ, c. 1900. What we would have picked from the rather extensive selection: Blue Point oysters, celery and olives, broiled Philadelphia Squab, au Cresson, with lettuce and tomato salad along with mashed potatos, French string beans and spinach and egg. We would have had the champagne punch, the New Year's Cake a la Lakewood, plus the Frozen Tipsy Parson Glace, au Chartreuse. Then some nuts and grapes, perhaps some edam cheese on Bent's water crackers and, finally, coffee. The four page menu is enclosed in an attractive cover, 5 3/4x8 1/4. - $28 |  |
